Lyrics, poetry and art all meshed together

I’ll sing to you my blues
To win you over with open
Passages of my lungs
I’ll sing to you my devotion
I know my touch is not enough
I know my scent evaporates quickly
That’s why I shudder musical tones
To permeate the sultry wind and capture
Your heart juggling with my ebony kisses

I’ll tighten your surfaces with musical light bulbs
And flatter your breath until al dente skies
Turn soft and weep mutually with my blues

I’ll sing to you with soul
To give the impression of complete happiness
To lessen the pain-drenched climate between us

We’ll float backwards with belated air
We’ll pretend our night’s rest was only
Disturbed by my blues

Shhhhhhhhhhh…no words to be expressed
Feel the throbbing hurricane waiting to be blessed
The insistent beauty of earth and sand is feverish
Pull her out of the rubble
She is waiting
Her elasticity has promises securely snug
With the pound of excitement
The pace of her heart echoes without static

I LOVE the first poem. Of course, the Billy pic would have won me over some anyway, but I can really feel the poem, and the words are vibrant with such electric eloquence. Magical.

I sing too. I'm with a band, now, though we haven't written & refined enough songs to play out yet. They keep wanting me to sing with less attitude and less blues. It's hard for a gal steeped in Billy Holiday, Nina Simone, Etta James, and the like to try and sing the way they want me too, but it is still my voice, my soul in the soundwaves, and I love it.

It's a powerful high, singing.

I like the repetition of "Soul For Real," and such a beautiful ending, too.

Looking forward to reading more of your work.

Such a mind, that can put mere words together to produce such great emotions in the reader. Thank you.

I am flattered, by your visit, and your comment..

Hi Cathy,
I have 2 blogs. You stopped by my "Good Vibrations" blog Http:// where I write as "GEL". Thank you for your very kind words about my photo and post.

I'm delighted to visit here because I love to read and write poetry! I also write poetry (and prose) under my other name "SilvermOOn", mainly on my other blog that is linked to this comment.

In your piece "Soul for Real" I'm particularly struck by the passion and strength of your writing. It's assertive without being "in your face." I like these phrases
"shudder musical tones"
"heart juggling"
"I’ll tighten your surfaces with musical light bulbs
And flatter your breath until al dente skies" (adore these two preceding lines!)
"We’ll float backwards with
belated air"
I like comparisons of nature to emotions as you expressed in "Earth and Sand's Fever."

"the sand is feverish" holds a world of images and feelings for me

and the following metaphor is powerful made all the moreso by the alliteration and consonance.

"She is waiting
Her elasticity has promises securely snug"

I put you into my favorites and look forward to reading more!
